This is for all members of the Congregations, Faith Communities and other church entities within the forming Southern Presbytery.
The formal inaugural meeting of the Southern Presbytery will be on 28-29 August, 2026. You are asked to nominate suitable people for the key leadership roles for the Southern Presbytery. We will not be electing all the committee members and roles at this first meeting: further elections will be held at a later date.
The following are the positions that we would like to elect at the August meeting and hence are calling for nominations now:
At the August meeting, we would also like to appoint a Treasurer. If you have a suggestion for Treasurer, please contact admin.southern@nswact.uca.org.au with details.
The nomination process may be new to some. It is a two-stage process.
Please note:
You do not need to ask the person you nominate.
You are not able to nominate yourself.
The Election Task Group will receive your nominations. If two or more Uniting Church members of congregations or faith communities within the bounds of the Southern Presbytery nominate the same person for a particular role/committee, that person will be approached by the Election Task Group and asked to consider their willingness to exercise leadership as nominated.
The nomination committee will approach potential nominees and consider the range of skills and diversity of the nominees.
If there is mutual agreement, the names of the nominees will go on the ballot for elections to be held at the inaugural meeting of Southern Presbytery August 28-29, 2026.
A list of nominees and the accompanying skills matrix and biography will be circulated to members of presbytery with the papers prior to the first meeting.
Information on roles and responsibilities and the election process can be found here or by contacting staff at admin.southern@nswact.uca.org.au
